Christmas Day Fun!!!!

For Christmas this year, we went to my parent's house to
spend Christmas with my family.  It was a lot of fun.
Here is a picture of the grandma's getting ready to watch
the kids open their Christmas presents....

And a picture of my brother Jeremy and his fiance' Amy....

We took turns opening gifts so everyone could see watch
what was being opened.  Here is my nephew Brayden opening his
present with Cheyenne and Trevin watching to see what he gets...

Grandpa is just chilling and watching all of the activity.

Trevin was so excited to open his presents...

My brother Jon was not wanting his picture taken so he was making
funny faces at the camera :)

Here is Nathan opening up one of his presents.  He
thought he would pose for the camera before he finished opening
his gift....

More present opening....

This is what the room looked like with all of the presents
open.  Now it is time to get a garbage bag and try to
clean up all of the wrapping paper that is thrown
all over.

Brayden really wanted to start playing with some of the
toys that he had received for Christmas...

After we opened all of our presents, we decided to go down to the
park to see all of the Christmas lights.  On the left is Mom and Dad in an
igloo that was in the park and on the right is Brayden doing a
handstand on the dance pad....

Here are a few pictures of the decorations at the park.

It was a very fun Christmas getting to spend time with my family!!!

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

Walk with God

In my current Bible study, we are reading in Genesis.  At the beginning it is talking about how God comes down in the cool of the evening and talks with Adam and Eve.  Can you imagine that?  God literally comes and walks and talks with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.   Then in Genesis chapter 6 verse 8 states "Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." and then in verse 9, it ends by saying "Noah walked with God."  Think about that for a minute.   In a world where everything is going crazy and God is questioning why he made the world because there is so much evil in it that He is going to send a flood and destroy the earth.  Can you imagine the world is as evil as it gets but the Bible states "And Noah walked with God."  That is such a profound statement.  Can you say that about your life?  No matter the chaos in the world or what is happening around you, people look at your life and all they can say is "And Valerie walked ...
