Salt Lake City, Utah Vacation

We decided to go to Salt Lake City, Utah for our vacation
this year.  We stayed at the Sheraton in Downtown
Salt Lake City.

Here is a picture of the hotel (taken from their
website)  I forgot to take a picture while I was there.

The night we arrived, we decided to go out to dinner, but
didn't want to pay $6-$10 for parking so we decided
to walk to the restaurant.  It had been raining
off and on, and when we decided to walk it
started raining a lot.  After stopping and checking
out a few places we decided to eat at PF Changs.

Here is a picture of the horse that is the mascot
of PF Changs....

And a picture of Nathan after he dried off a little
bit : )

The next day we decided to go to City Creek
Shopping Center.  It is a really neat outdoor shopping center
and then the part that is in a building has a roof that can be
retracted to let the sunshine in when it is nice outside.
Unfortunately, it rained off and on while we were there
so they did not open the roof.

Here are a couple pictures of the fountains
that are in the center of the shopping area.

Below is a picture of the Mormon Temple.  It was
just down the block from the shopping center.

I took a fun picture of Nathan as he was taking a picture
of the area.  We are on the 2nd level at an outdoor
seating area for the food court.

We decided to take a break from shopping and
get a coffee at Kneaders : )

We are standing on the 2nd level so I took a picture
of the area where the fountains are at...

Nathan has been promising to take me to
The Cheesecake Factory so we decided
to start out with dessert before we had dinner.

We split the Adams Peanut Butter Fudge
Cheesecake ( I can't remember the exact
name)  Here is a picture of it...It was so
delicious!!!

There are several different kinds of cheesecake
to choose from, we had a difficult time trying
to decide which one we wanted to try.

We had a great time for the couple of days
that we were in town.  These were just a few of
the highlights that I remembered to take pictures.

Here is where we ate breakfast at...It is across the
street from a park.  It is just a house that someone
turned into a restaurant, but it has delicious food.
Try it out if you are ever in Salt Lake.

As we were leaving town to head home I took
a picture of the mountain with all the different colors
and the railroad in front of it.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of these road signs.
We saw them when we drove into town, but it
was raining and I couldn't get a picture of them.

The first sign says "Drowsy Drivers next Exit
3 1/2 miles Fatigued Driving Not Allowed"

Just a short ways down the road the sign says
"Drowsy Drivers Pull Over if Necessary"
This is the first time I have seen road signs
telling someone Drowsy Driving is not
allowed in their state.  We thought it was
pretty funny so we had to take a picture of them.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of our vacation with
us.  There are a lot of things we will have to see
next time we go to Salt Lake City, but if you
are ever down there check out City Creek Mall.

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Perfect Tote Bag

After searching for quite awhile I have finally found the perfect tote bag.  I wanted a small tote that I could take as a carry-on if I fly or that would be an easy bag to take if I was going out of town for just a weekend and did not need to pack for a week (which I am really good at doing even when not necessary).  So I started a search and went the rounds of all the stores in town to see if I could find something that I liked that was a good size.  I wanted a tote that was on wheels and had a handle so I didn't have to carry it all the time, but one that was smaller than my suitcase that I normally take when I go out of town.  So finally after going the rounds of all the stores several times, I have finally found the tote that is just right for me.  It has a handle, is not very large (but large enough to take everything that I will need) and it has wheels.  I am also pretty sure that I will be able to take it as a carry-on when I fly to Boise in a couple...

Jarius' Daughter

I was praying for healing for some people the other day and the thought kept coming to me, if God can raise Jarius' daughter from the dead and heal the leper from leprosy, there is nothing that He can't do.  I decided to look up the story of Jarius' daughter because it has been a while since I have read that.  There were a few things that really struck me when I was reading this passage this time.  This passage is found in Luke 8:40-56 and Mark 5:22-43 Now, I have been raised in the church and heard this story several times through my life and I am raising my kids to read the Bible now.  Sometimes, I feel like when I read the Bible, "How could you not have faith and not believe when you could see what was happening right in front of you?"  Did you realize that at this time in history, it had been 400 years since a prophet of God had been seen?   Now that is something amazing to me.  400 years since any miracles had been performed, yet these people...
