Cozy Home

Have you ever thought about being a work at home Mom or a homeschool Momma?  I am a homeschool/work at home Momma of two.  I love the opportunity to be home with my little ones.  Now, let me start out by saying that being a homeschool momma or a stay at home or work at home momma is not always the easiest job, but it is so rewarding.  My goal this year has been to make my home a cozy, comfortable home for my family.

I have a few people I follow on Instagram or bloggers that I just love to see their homes and how cozy and peaceful they look.  Now, I can tell you my home rarely looks like an Instagram post.  It is often messy and chaotic.  I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old and they love to play with toys and build towers out of building blocks.  If you have children, you know just how crazy life can get with little ones underfoot when you are trying to clean house or even keep your house organized.

Everyone's definition of cozy is different and although I would love to say that my house is spotless and that makes it cozy.  It rarely is spotless.  Let me just show you a few pictures of our school/play room.  Since we homeschool we have a room set up as our class room that is also my kids playroom when we are not doing school work.

I plan to write another blog post about when the house is organized and I will show those pictures or maybe I'll add some at the end of this post, but for now I really want to focus this message on the fact that even when you feel like things are chaotic, even when things are all out of place and a mess, you can still have a cozy, comfortable home.   Here is how our school/play room looks sometimes.  It is an ever changing room that gets reorganized a lot and also gets a lot of stuff dumped in here out of the way instead of put away where items belong.  Now, I know we all want every room of our homes to be Instagram/Pinterest worthy but how often does your house or life look like this?  Just know you are not alone, not every room or even every house looks perfect all the time and that is okay.

As moms, I think we often feel like we are not living up to the standard that we have set for ourselves or for our families, but the most important thing to remember is how your kids feel about their home.  Some days my kids want to go, go, go and be out and about.  Some days, my kids just want to stay home and have a relaxing day and you know what?  Both of those attitudes are great.  Some days I don't want to just stay home and some days I love being home.

Walk with God

In my current Bible study, we are reading in Genesis.  At the beginning it is talking about how God comes down in the cool of the evening and talks with Adam and Eve.  Can you imagine that?  God literally comes and walks and talks with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.   Then in Genesis chapter 6 verse 8 states "Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." and then in verse 9, it ends by saying "Noah walked with God."  Think about that for a minute.   In a world where everything is going crazy and God is questioning why he made the world because there is so much evil in it that He is going to send a flood and destroy the earth.  Can you imagine the world is as evil as it gets but the Bible states "And Noah walked with God."  That is such a profound statement.  Can you say that about your life?  No matter the chaos in the world or what is happening around you, people look at your life and all they can say is "And Valerie walked ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

Victory

Exodus 14:14  says "The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace." When you are in the middle of a trial, it feels like it is never-ending.  Will we be able to conquer?  Will the battle plan actually work?  The devil just keeps attacking and the battle feels like it just won't stop.  Even when we know the battle plan is solid and we know what to do, it is hard.  At times, God tells us to hold our peace and He will fight the battle for us.  Do you know how hard it is to just surrender control to God?   God has been dealing with my heart lately that we need to start proclaiming the victory over all situations.  Over the sickness that we are fighting, over the stressful situations that you may be facing, just proclaim victory over your life.  We need to proclaim God's victory.  He wrote the battle plan.  He knows what your future holds.  God even understands the stress from the middle of the battlefield.
