Do we have Faith when we Pray?

By Your Stripes We Are Healed

March 25, 2023

Isaiah 53:5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed.” (NKJV)

Do we really believe when we pray “By your stripes we are healed, and we are standing on that promise”? Do we take the time to really understand that God will or can heal all diseases? When we pray and ask God for a healing, are you only believing that God will heal you or the person you are praying for from something simple like the flu? Or do we actually pray believing that God can heal any disease, whether that be cancer, heart problems, mental health, anxiety, dementia, autoimmune disorders or any other thing out there?

I have seen miracles that God has performed throughout my lifetime and I know, I KNOW that God can perform healings, yet at times it seems impossible when we look at a situation.

Are you going through a valley right now and can’t see which way is up? Are you facing health issues and don’t know which way to turn? Well, I have a little one that has been fighting a stomach bug, it’s nothing serious, but as I was praying for him, I started thinking about the fact that sometimes we don’t stop and take the time to really pray believing with faith that God can heal us from the bigger issues.

I have a friend who has battled an auto immune disorder for years and God completely healed her from it. My father-in-law battled cancer and God completely healed him from it. My youngest son was born premature and the doctors weren’t sure he would survive and today he is a thriving 4 year old because God healed him. Miracle after miracle, time after time and yet when we look at our circumstances it can be overwhelming in the moment.

Just remember that God can and will perform healing today. He says in the Bible, by his stripes we are healed (paraphrased). Here is the full verse in case you are not familiar with it. Isaiah 53:5, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed.” (NKJV)

Let’s stand on that promise today and have the faith that when we ask God for something that He will provide.

I was reading my son’s Bible story to him last night and it was all about Solomon. God told Solomon ask of me what you will and I will give it to you. Solomon asked God for wisdom so he could be the best king for his people.

That story got me to thinking that we need to stop and take time to really ask and believe that God will give us what we ask.  Recently, my mom asked me “What does it mean to draw near to the heart of God?” Well, my answer was that we need to read the Bible, pray and praise.

I have been dwelling on that the past couple days, when we spend time with God through prayer and reading the Bible, we draw closer to Him. Well, I think as we are spending time in prayer and praise with God then we can bring all our problems and sorrows and struggles to Him and he will provide answers for us. Does that mean that we always get the answer we want? No, it doesn’t. Just as parents we sometimes must tell our children no because what they are asking will not be beneficial for them in the long run, God sometimes tells us no because he sees what our future holds for us.

Today, let’s take the time to really think about this and really believe that when we pray God can and will answer us. The answer may not be what we want to hear, but it will always be what is best for us as God’s children.

Do you have the Faith to believe that God can do what he said he will do?

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Perfect Tote Bag

After searching for quite awhile I have finally found the perfect tote bag.  I wanted a small tote that I could take as a carry-on if I fly or that would be an easy bag to take if I was going out of town for just a weekend and did not need to pack for a week (which I am really good at doing even when not necessary).  So I started a search and went the rounds of all the stores in town to see if I could find something that I liked that was a good size.  I wanted a tote that was on wheels and had a handle so I didn't have to carry it all the time, but one that was smaller than my suitcase that I normally take when I go out of town.  So finally after going the rounds of all the stores several times, I have finally found the tote that is just right for me.  It has a handle, is not very large (but large enough to take everything that I will need) and it has wheels.  I am also pretty sure that I will be able to take it as a carry-on when I fly to Boise in a couple...

Jarius' Daughter

I was praying for healing for some people the other day and the thought kept coming to me, if God can raise Jarius' daughter from the dead and heal the leper from leprosy, there is nothing that He can't do.  I decided to look up the story of Jarius' daughter because it has been a while since I have read that.  There were a few things that really struck me when I was reading this passage this time.  This passage is found in Luke 8:40-56 and Mark 5:22-43 Now, I have been raised in the church and heard this story several times through my life and I am raising my kids to read the Bible now.  Sometimes, I feel like when I read the Bible, "How could you not have faith and not believe when you could see what was happening right in front of you?"  Did you realize that at this time in history, it had been 400 years since a prophet of God had been seen?   Now that is something amazing to me.  400 years since any miracles had been performed, yet these people...
