Home Life, Cleaning and Life Lessons

Do you ever get overwhelmed?  Some days, the kids ar
e going crazy, the house is a mess and husband will be home from work in just a few minutes wanting to relax after a hard day.  Some days, I look around my house and think "This place is a disaster.  I should have cleaned the living room and kitchen by now and have dinner at least started."  You know what?  It's okay.  we need to give ourselves grace sometimes.  It is okay to have a rough day.  It is okay to spend an hour playing with the kids instead of making sure the house is clean.

Yesterday, my house was a mess.  I sat down with my 4 year old, who just wanted to be held and looked around and thought I haven't gotten anything done today.  However, it was important to my child that I just sit with him.  He didn't necessarily need anything from me other than my attention and to know that Mom was right there with him as he played a game.

I'm a stay at home/work at home Mama to 2 boys that I homeschool, so they are always home with me.  Yesterday as I was making my to do list and then looking around at the mess that was my house, I just thought, "There is no way to get all of this done today."

Do you realize that it is okay to feel that way?  Sometimes it is important to take time for ourselves as wives as moms as women.  Sometimes, it is more important to spend that hour with your children instead of working on the house or working on your business.

God gives us grace and we need to give ourselves and each other grace. Let's support one another and lift each other up as women, not stress each other over the fact that not everything is perfect in each other's lives.  What can you do today for yourself?  That might be taking a few moments to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or tea.  Or it might just be knowing that tomorrow is another day to do better and just take the night off.

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

God's timing

My kids love to watch Superbook, it's a cartoon about Bible stories.  Today the episode was about Lazarus and about God's timing.  This past weekend I heard a song on the radio and I can't remember the song, but one of the lines talks about how faith can move mountains and God can still perform miracles today.  I have been thinking about those two lines this week, how God can move mountains and still perform miracles today.  Do we have the faith to stand and believe this statement?  Then watching Superbook with my kiddos this morning, it was all about God's timing and that sometimes God has a better plan for us than what we can think or ask for. Have you ever felt when you were praying that you just didn't know how or when your prayers would be answered?  Sometimes, it doesn't feel like your answers are coming or that your prayers are going anywhere.  Did you know that God still hears each and every one of those prayers?  It just might not be His ...
