Fun Mother and Daughter Shopping Trip

My parents came down to visit us last weekend.  We had so much fun just hanging out and visiting and doing a whole lot of nothing (because isn't that what a vacation is all about?)

My mom and I had decided that we were both in need of new
earrings so we decided to go shopping while she was in town.

Here is my mom with a couple of fun crazy earrings that we were
debating about getting....

I thought these earrings would match Nathan's car perfectly.
Do you think I should get these for those fun times when
we are out in his lime green car????

After we had finally decided on some earrings and
had fun looking at all of the other items in the store, we decided we
should go check out Hobby Lobby.  My mom is hosting a
table for a Christmas brunch this year and we needed some
inspiration and ideas on how to decorate her table.  So off we go....

So we start in the Christmas aisle with all of the stockings, just
looking for that perfect inspiration....

Look at this stocking, doesn't it have the perfect Elf toes???

And around the corner is the best sign to go with the above stocking.

It says Elf Wanted:
no experience necessary
Pointy ears and curly
toes not required

Well of course you won't need curly toes we have the stocking
for you to wear :)

I thought this sign was awesome!!!

Here I am with some fun purple Christmas decorations...
Do you think these would make the best table decorations???

We are just having waaay to much fun at this store.

There are so many awesome things to see and so much
Christmas stuff....

Maybe some Santa Clause statues are the way to go?
Here is a whole aisle of different Santa Claus's...

I hope you enjoyed following our shopping trip.  We had such a blast
getting to spend time together and enjoy shopping and looking
at all of the Christmas stuff.  We found some great inspiration pieces
to use for the table decorating also, but you will have to wait until
after the brunch to see just what we come up with for that :)

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

God's timing

My kids love to watch Superbook, it's a cartoon about Bible stories.  Today the episode was about Lazarus and about God's timing.  This past weekend I heard a song on the radio and I can't remember the song, but one of the lines talks about how faith can move mountains and God can still perform miracles today.  I have been thinking about those two lines this week, how God can move mountains and still perform miracles today.  Do we have the faith to stand and believe this statement?  Then watching Superbook with my kiddos this morning, it was all about God's timing and that sometimes God has a better plan for us than what we can think or ask for. Have you ever felt when you were praying that you just didn't know how or when your prayers would be answered?  Sometimes, it doesn't feel like your answers are coming or that your prayers are going anywhere.  Did you know that God still hears each and every one of those prayers?  It just might not be His ...
