Dress Shopping

Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I'm back to post about more shopping.  The wedding gown shopping continues...It is not easy to find the perfect dress.  So my mom and I had some time a couple weekends back and decided to take a trip up to Spokane, WA to see if we could find the perfect wedding gown.  We got up early and headed out, the weather was absolutely beatiful.  Now, for this time of year usually the road conditions aren' t the best since you still have a lot of snow and ice on them, but not this weekend.  The roads were clear, although the weather forecast was for a lot of wind, we decided to chance it.  So off we headed.

We arrived at our first store about eleven in the morning and started browsing through the dresses.

Then once a consultant was free, I started trying on gowns to see if I could find anything I liked.  There are so many different styles out there.  This first dress, I saw on the mannequin as I was walking in the store and thought it just looked beautiful.  Unfortunately, when I tried it on, it did not look good on me at all.  What a bummer :(  so the searching continued.

I love the train on this gown, but the front of the dress just didn't compare nearly as well....so I tried on a few more....

I love the criss-cross look on the front of this gown

Then I tried on this dress and thought it was beautiful.

But I wasn't sure it was the right dress for me, so I continued shopping.

This dress was just so different that I had to try it on....it was beautiful from the back with the layers on the train

Unfortunately, I didn't like the look of the front of it on me.

Next, I decided to try a dress with straps just to see if I liked the different look

We are starting to get somewhere, but I just don't know yet.

Yo, What do you think of this one?  (Just being silly now)

Don't you love the mannequin in the corner??

I tried on a veil with this dress to see how it would look...

This was the area where I was trying on dresses....

Well, that was all for that store and I didn't find the dress that I was just absolutely in love with.  So the shopping will continue.

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

God's timing

My kids love to watch Superbook, it's a cartoon about Bible stories.  Today the episode was about Lazarus and about God's timing.  This past weekend I heard a song on the radio and I can't remember the song, but one of the lines talks about how faith can move mountains and God can still perform miracles today.  I have been thinking about those two lines this week, how God can move mountains and still perform miracles today.  Do we have the faith to stand and believe this statement?  Then watching Superbook with my kiddos this morning, it was all about God's timing and that sometimes God has a better plan for us than what we can think or ask for. Have you ever felt when you were praying that you just didn't know how or when your prayers would be answered?  Sometimes, it doesn't feel like your answers are coming or that your prayers are going anywhere.  Did you know that God still hears each and every one of those prayers?  It just might not be His ...
