Fall 2013

This weekend my parents came to visit us. My mom
wanted to get pictures of the house and of me opening
the door when they arrived. :)

Here is our house as they are driving up to it...

Our front door...

This is me opening the door to welcome
my parents here :)

I am getting ready for us to go out shopping now
that they have arrived.

Here is a picture of our stuff that we need to
make some of the projects we have planned for this
weekend.

This picture is a little blurry because I was trying
to figure out how to use Mom's camera but she is
showing off some of the stuff that we are going to
be using for our projects...

Mom is studying up how to change the setting
on the camera for me :)

Saturday morning we decided to hit a few crafts
fairs in the area.  I love how the sun is highlighting me ;)

Here are a few of our finds (we needed the wreath
frame to make us a new wreath)

And mom showing off more of our stuff that we are
finding...

We went back to pick up Dad to take with us
to go get breakfast and hit a few more craft shows
and this is what we came home to :)  I guess he
got bored waiting for us and decided to have fun
playing in the leaves.

Of course, we always have to hit Hobby Lobby when
my mom comes to town.  It is one of our favorite stores.
Don't you just love looking at Christmas things???

Mom is having fun looking at more Christmas items.

And here she is showing Dad a tree made out of
newspapers. (For those that don't know
my Dad, he LOVES
his newspaper)

This sign says "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas"

My dad was having fun shopping with us also even though
craft type stores are not his favorite, Hobby Lobby has
something for everyone!

So many decisions, trying to find the perfect scrapbook
paper...

And picking out the perfect material :)

Now it is time to get down to doing some
serious projects...Here I am trying to take the old
wreath off of the frame so we can make a new,
more modern wreath...

I finally got it all figured out, now Mom is using
the mesh tulle to make a new wreath for a Christmas
Brunch that she is hosting...

I am working on a project for a Cookie Swap that
I will be hosting next month....

This is what Dad decided to do while we
worked on our many projects (Nathan was working
so he missed most of the fun)

We decided to take a quick trip to Lowe's before
Mom and Dad headed back home...

We are checking out some kitchen
counter tops for ideas..

And it wouldn't be a fun fall day without taking pictures
in a leaf pile :)

It was so beautiful outside, we got some great
pictures...

And some fun pictures of Mom and Dad also...

You have to have a leaf fight in the Fall...

This is the way to end a fun photo shoot :)

Hope you enjoyed our fun weekend.  I have a few more
pictures for another post :)

Our words make a difference

Growing up, were you ever told, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"  I remember being taught this when I was pretty young.  Our words matter and if we can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything.  In today's world, especially with social media, it seems that a lot of people have forgotten this message or maybe were never taught it to begin with.  Another childhood saying was "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me."  Unfortunately, this saying is not true either.  Words can cause lasting damage that is very difficult to overcome. We need to be mindful when we are speaking that our words are used to encourage and uplift one another and not used to destroy each other.  There is a scripture verse that I have been meditating on this week and it is listed below.  It states that our conversation needs to be seasoned with salt, but also full of grace so that we know how to answer ...

Trust in God

Today while watching Superbook with my children the theme of the episode was to trust in God.  "Trust in God and He will show the way."  Do we really understand what it means to trust God?  Can we truly comprehend this statement?   It's easy when things are going our way.  It can be easy when things aren't going our way, but life is still going well.  However, do you still trust God when life is hard?  When everything seems to be going wrong in life?  Do you trust God through the hard stuff?   There is an old time song that says "The God on the mountain is still God in the valley.  When things go wrong, you know that He will make them right.  The God of the good times is still God in the bad times and the God of the day, is still God in the night."   Think about the words to that song.  No matter what, God is still God.  He still has control over the outcome.  Recently, my mom and I were talking an...

God's timing

My kids love to watch Superbook, it's a cartoon about Bible stories.  Today the episode was about Lazarus and about God's timing.  This past weekend I heard a song on the radio and I can't remember the song, but one of the lines talks about how faith can move mountains and God can still perform miracles today.  I have been thinking about those two lines this week, how God can move mountains and still perform miracles today.  Do we have the faith to stand and believe this statement?  Then watching Superbook with my kiddos this morning, it was all about God's timing and that sometimes God has a better plan for us than what we can think or ask for. Have you ever felt when you were praying that you just didn't know how or when your prayers would be answered?  Sometimes, it doesn't feel like your answers are coming or that your prayers are going anywhere.  Did you know that God still hears each and every one of those prayers?  It just might not be His ...
